Why Inclusion?



                                                                     We could tell you about our stance on inclusion—how
                                                                     we believe in play for people of all ages and abilities;
                                                                     how important it is that everyone shares in the physical,
                                                                     sensory and social benefi ts of play; and how it’s about
                                                                     more than just accessibility.

                                                                     But nothing is as powerful as hearing it for yourself.
                                                                     These families shared with us just how grateful they are
                                                                     to have an inclusive playground nearby and why it’s a
                                                                     life-changing gift for their children, their families, and
                                                                     the community.





                                                                        It’s about being a part of something.
                                                                        “Zoe, what’s your favorite part of the playground?...
                                                                        Yeah, you like kneeling on the RockR…because
                                                                        you can play with everybody.”

                                                                        It creates empathy.
                                                                        “This park off ers our kids the opportunity to
                                                                        interact with other kids (their typically developing
                                                                        peers), and we all know that if children play
                                                                        together now as kids they grow up and have

                                                                        It’s about the whole family.

                                                                        “As a parent, I love that it’s accessible to
                                                                        everybody…and especially because a child doesn’t
                                                                        have to feel diff erent, because they’re able to play
                                                                        with other kids. All three (of my kids) can play
                                                                        together and Jayla (who has spina bifi da) doesn’t
                                                                        have to just sit and watch—that’s something
                                                                        we’ve never had…”
